The Old Bridge
On the backroads of Old Hollow, tucked between an abandoned schoolhouse and the remains of an empty water tower, lord The Old Bridge. No one knows what it’s original name was; maybe it never had one. But everyone knows it as The Old Bridge.UPDATE: BRIDGE IS FINE. NOT HAUNTED. PAGE WILL BE DELETED AT A LATER DATE.
The bridge has remained unused since the 1930’s due to failings in structural integrity. In 1953, in ordinance with beautifying attempts sanctioned by the city council, there was an attempt to tear down the bridge and build a new one. The project lasted ten years, and somehow resulted in multiple broken machinery and three casualties. In the end, the project was discontinued. The bridge stayed up. In 1978, there was another attempt to tear down the bridge. Once more, machinery broke down and one worker was badly injured, though survived. Despite multiple efforts, the bridge stayed up. Once again, in 2003, there was another attempt. By then, the bridge had earned a reputation, so when they announced the project discontinued due to a variety of incidents, no one was surprised.
The Old Bridge would be here to stay.
While most folks blame mishandled funds and inadequate equipment, others suspect a more supernatural force at play. According to folklore, the bridge is guarded by a vengeful demon. Summoned by cultists and bound to the bridge, it’s said to attack anyone who attempts to cross the bridge, let alone destroys it.
Now, do I believe this story? I’m honestly not sure myself. There’s been rumors of cultists in the woods since, well, forever, but a demon on a bridge? I’m half-tempted to summon it myself just to see if the rumors are true, haha! Regardless, it’ll be an interesting investigation due to the reported deaths of workers on the bridge. I plan on bringing Pearl and Gem along as backup (and also because Gem is very insistent on making sure I don’t make a mess of a historical landmark which, if the previous attempts have anything to say for it, I definitely won’t be able to even try). I’ll update everyone on the progress after tonight
